An innovation-driven medical device company, SpineEX, Inc., offers spinal implants that are fully expandable and have in situ lordotic adjustment capabilities. In March 2019, SpineEX, Inc., announced that it had launched its next generation Sagittae Lateral Lumbar Interbody Fusion device on the commercial market.
At the same time, SpineEX announced completion of the first spinal fusion surgery with the Sagittae cage implanted in a patient at Archibald Surgery Center. The procedure was undertaken by Dr. Ali H. Mesiwala, a researcher and board certified neurosurgeon who focuses on developing minimally invasive and endoscopic techniques for spinal and cranial surgery.
Expandable and adjustable, the “one-size-fits-all” Sagittae cage implant received approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration in late 2018. It is characterized as offering the potential of boosting quality, safety, and efficiency among those who undergo lumbar fusion procedures.
As described by Dr. Mesiwala, the Sagittae cage is particularly suited for specialty clinics that focus on spine disorders and are in search of the latest technologies to optimize surgical outcomes.
